Resources
Our discussions on a Saturday morning have used our own researched material to stimulate discussion. The material used for the discussion about ‘The Divine Economy’ and ‘Sexual Ethics’ are both attached.
Other material that has informed and inspired the vision for 3rd Place include:
- ‘The Divine Conspiracy’ by Dallas Willard, Fount (1998)
- ‘Let my people grow’ by Mark Greene & Tracy Cotterell, Authentic Press (2006) and the work of the Imagine project based at the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity (www.licc.org.uk/imagine/)
- ‘Emerging Churches’ by Eddie Gibbs & Ryan K Bolger, SPCK (2006)
- The Café Church movement (www.cafechurch.net)
- The Bible Society ‘lyfe’ initiative to bring the Bible into our daily live (www.lyfe.org.uk)
- The Jubilee Centre (www.jubilee-centre.org/) and sister charity the Relationships Foundation (www.relationshipsfoundation.org/) in their application of the Biblical Paradigm to society.
- Resources and talks about contemporary issues can be found at www.bethinking.org.
‘3rd place’ in Knaresborough will draw on a wide range of these and similar resources to help it fulfil its vision. It will also link with other activities of the local church in Knaresborough where these are already bringing our faith into the community and addressing issues that challenge and grow our faith such as alpha, the marriage course or similar programmes.
Those who are seeking to support and stimulate the development of the ‘3rd place’ movement in Knaresborough hold to the traditional Trinitarian theology of the Godhead and a revealed truth through Jesus who came to earth as fully God and yet fully man to bring reconciliation between God and people through his death and physical resurrection in order that his rule and authority should be seen by all.
Whilst we place our ultimate trust in the Bible as being ‘God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness’ (2 Timothy 3:16) and in Jesus as Lord and Saviour and therefore the ultimate example, we have been inspired by others who have written and taken action to follow the path of discipleship and made their faith real for the 21st Century.
